In today's Fire Service, buying a fire truck can be a stressful, tedious and lengthy process. Community needs, changes in technology and budgets must all play a role in Spec'ing a Fire Apparatus for your Department. In his presentation, Ben will give an overview of what it looks like to purchase an Apparatus in today's Fire Service. From the initial Fire Dept round table discussion to the Fire Apparatus Delivery Day and every step in between.


Ben Vanderzwaag is the Co-Owner of Sea Hawk. Ben lives in Carman MB with is wife and 5 children. He has been involved in the Automotive and Heavy Truck & Trailer Service Industry for more than 20 years. He has has been a firefighter for 19 years and is currently the Director of Public Safety for the Town of Carman & RM of Dufferin. Throughout the last decade he has dedicated much time to the Manitoba Fire Service by serving on various boards and organizations. This background has given Ben the hands-on experience needed to know what his clients require each and every day. For these reasons it was natural that he became one of the founding partners at Sea Hawk.
